September 2026
Welcome back to another school year at Orchard View! We appreciate all of you who are helping Orchard View Education Foundation (OVEF) start the new year strong, and we are excited about how many people have already put themselves forward as volunteers who can jump in and help out in our school community.
Fundraising Update
How It's Going
We are off to a great start to the 2026/27 school year! In the first few weeks, the OVS community has given generously, already surpassing the $5,000 needed for our first matching gift!
This brings our current total to $14,933!
Our goal for the year is $57,000, and every gift helps us close that gap. If you haven't given yet, now's the time!
Remember, if families give just $243 per student for the year, or $21 per month, we'll have spring afternoon classes funded and also be supporting teacher requests and more.
Next Steps
Participation Grant: We're still waiting to unlock our $1,000 participation grant. As soon as all parents from one class give, the school gets another $1,000! Let's drum up support from every grade!
OVEF Meetings: All are invited to join Foundation meetings the second Friday of every month at 11am. Zoom link is available at https://www.orchardviewfoundation.org/ Meetings are a great place to learn what's happening and to bring ideas!
Upcoming Events & Volunteer Opportunities
September 18: Dutch Bros Coffee Giveback Day!
Every year, Dutch Bros Coffee partners up with a local youth organization to raise funds for that particular organization. This year, they are excited to partner up with Orchard View School again! The Dutch Bros location on 919 Hopper Ave in Santa Rosa will be donating $1 of every drink sold on Friday, September 18, to our school. This is a great opportunity to arrange to meet for coffee or a treat with other OVS families! Feel free to share this flyer with your community.
September 25: Maker Faire!
See this flyer for info about the upcoming Bay Area Maker Faire and opportunities for deeply discounted tickets for groups of 10 or more students who arrange to go together. Apply for this group rate by the 23rd at the latest.
October 7: Nimble & Finn’s Dine and Donate!
Scoop up some fun! Join us to support OVS with a Dine & Donate at Nimble & Finns on Wednesday, October 7 at both locations (Guerneville and Santa Rosa). Bring your crew, and enjoy some ice cream — $1 per scoop sold will benefit our school! See flyer for more details & share it with friends!
October 29: Orchard View K-7 Walk-a-Thon!
Save the date for a K-7 Walk-a-Thon with other exciting activities! This event will take place at OVS on the upper field at 1:15 pm on Thursday the 29th.
See flyers around campus, with additional information coming soon via Parent Square. If you plan to participate, please create your child’s 99 Pledges page as soon as possible to start gathering pledges from friends, family and community members! You can also find our main event page on 99 pledges here.
We are still looking for more sponsors for this event — if you are connected with a local business that might like to donate prizes or sponsor an event at the Walk-a-Thon, please get in touch!
Volunteer opportunity:
The Foundation is still looking for a dedicated member who can take primary responsibility for planning Foundation-led community events throughout the year, as well as organizing our volunteers for school-led events like the Winter Craft Fair. If event planner sounds like the role for you, please email info@orchardviewfoundation.org!
New OVEF Class Liaisons
We have a great group of brand new class liaisons for the 2026-27 school year! Our goal is that each of them will serve as a communications bridge between grade-level families, the Foundation, and the school. If you have an idea you’d like to see implemented at Orchard View, have questions about fundraisers or upcoming events, or just want to get more involved, speak with your class liaison and they can help point you in the right direction.
They will be reaching out in the coming weeks to gather contact information for their respective grades, and to keep you informed about upcoming events. Please let them know the best way to get in touch with you!
Class liaisons for this year are:
TK: Stephani Britton
K: Talia Jackson
1st: Kelli DiTomasso
2nd: Karen Stepp / Rachel Mutterperl
3rd: Karen Stepp
4th: Eric Hansen
6th: Megan Izen / Cara Baum
7th: Eric Hansen
12th: Kari O’Kane
Don’t see your child’s grade level listed here? We are still looking for class liaisons for grades that don’t yet have one! Get in touch with Kira at president@orchardviewfoundation.org if you are interested in taking on this role.
