October 2026
Read on for information on upcoming events (especially our October 29th Walk-a-Thon!), volunteer opportunities, an important survey for families in grades 1 - 5, and many different ways for you to get involved and give back to our school community!
To date, we have raised $15,660 of our $57,000 goal for this school year! We appreciate every donation, small and large, and hope you will consider giving today if you haven’t already.
Upcoming Events
October 7: Nimble & Finn’s Dine and Donate!
Scoop up some fun this Wednesday! Join us to support OVS with a Dine & Donate at Nimble & Finns on Wednesday, October 7 at both locations (Guerneville and Santa Rosa). Bring your crew, and enjoy some ice cream — $1 per scoop sold will benefit our school!
Can’t make it in person? Don’t like ice cream? You can always donate the cost of a scoop or two directly to our GiveButter campaign.
October 22: OVS Pumpkin Patch Gathering
Join your friends after school at the Muelrath Ranch pumpkin patch for a no-cost afternoon of fun! This is not an OVEF event or fundraiser, just an opportunity to gather with other OVS families and enjoy the season! (Click the flyer to enlarge.)
October 29: Orchard View TK-7 Walk-a-Thon!
Our TK-7 Walk-a-Thon participants have already raised over $3,000 for our school! And in just a few weeks, on October 29th at 1:30 pm on the upper field behind OVS, we’ll be getting together for an afternoon of walking, running, hopping, freeze-dancing, tug-of-war, games, face painting and more!
If you haven’t already signed up, please create your child’s 99 Pledges page as soon as possible and start gathering pledges from friends, family and community members! There will be participation prizes for every student who creates a page, as well as exciting individual prizes donated by businesses in our community.
We are still looking for more community sponsors for this event — if you are connected with a local business that might like to sponsor our Walk-a-Thon, please get in touch!
November 19: Snoopy’s Home Ice Booster Event
(Click the flyer to enlarge in a new window!) Snoopy’s Home Ice is hosting a booster event to benefit our school on Thursday, November 19th from 4:15 - 5:30pm, with $8.00 admission, skate rental included, for those who mention this fundraiser!
This event is open to all, and the more friends and family we bring along, the more we raise to benefit our school. Put it on the calendar and get ready to lace up those ice skates!
Enrichment Offerings Survey
Families with students in grades 1 - 5 are strongly encouraged to fill out this feedback survey about the OVEF-funded enrichment offerings for this fall, and what types of enrichment opportunities you would like to see for the spring semester. Your anonymous feedback will be valuable to OVS and OVEF in our conversations with the school district, and your experiences will help guide our decisions about spring enrichment classes. Please complete this survey (also sent out to all relevant grades via Parent Square) as soon as possible!
Volunteer Opportunities with the Foundation
VP / Annual Fund & Major Gifts Coordinator
We are looking for a dedicated volunteer to replace our outgoing Vice President and Annual Fund / Major Gifts Coordinator, Morgan. If you have fundraising experience and would like to put it to good use for the benefit of all Orchard View students, please get in touch at info@orchardviewfoundation.org for more information about the role, or speak to one of us in person.
Event Planner
We are also still looking for a community member who can take primary responsibility for planning Foundation-led community events throughout the year, as well as organizing our volunteers for school-led events like the Winter Craft Fair. If Event Planner sounds like the role for you, please email info@orchardviewfoundation.org!
Class Liaisons
Finally, we would still love to find class liaisons for grades 5, 8, 9, 10, and 11. Please reach out to Kira at president@orchardviewfoundation.org if you may be interested in volunteering for one of these roles. A list of current class liaisons for all grades can be found in the September newsletter (link at the bottom of this page).

There are two months left in our Winter See’s Candies fundraiser!

Get in touch!
If you have questions about the Foundation and aren’t sure who to ask, feel free to email info@orchardviewfoundation.org. You are also welcome to get involved by joining our monthly Zoom meetings, on the second Friday of each month, with the next meeting on Friday, October 9th. Here is the link, which you can bookmark:
Finally, do you have an idea for equipment, resources, or a field trip that you’d like the Foundation to fund? Ask in the office for a funding request form and submit it to Principal Maura DuVall for review. If it is within the Foundation’s mission, she will pass it on to us!
